But her goals, her motivations,are very simple and I believe quite understandable: she doesn’t want to be alone anymore. Well, I do, because she kills Garry, but even with people who have gotten the Promise of Reunion ending, they think shes a evil bitch bent on killing you and everyone you love.
I almost don’t understand why people hate her so much. She wanted to get out, to feel the real sun, to eat real food, to meet real people.
She wanted a friend, someone to keep her company. She didn’t want to be mean to Ib, she didn’t want to be “evil”. Mary is a simple yet equally complex character. I really love the game Ib for many reasons, one being thus: There’s no ultimately evil antagonist. This is the only warning, read at your own risk. As such, this contains an overwhelming amount of spoilers. It analyzes her character and her actions in the game, not in an attempt to justify her but to explain why I don’t believe that she is “evil” and a “bitch”. The fallowing is a “rant” about my opinions about Mary from Ib.
